SHRM Long Island sponsors a major annual conference, the largest on Long Island, for HR professionals and students. It is always an excellent opportunity to network and to learn about HR trends and best practices. The 2016 conference, held in May, was a celebration of the Chapter’s 25th Anniversary. All attendees, including several of our students, enjoyed workshops on organizational culture; utilizing coaching to get employees and business units to think, act, and speak like one organization; boosting employee engagement; success and leadership; and a look at workplace law over the past 25 years and a discussion of what LI employers can expect over the next 25 years. Several members of the NYIT SHRM Chapter also volunteered to assist the SHRM-LI Chapter with registration and event management; other members assisted the NYIT Center for HR Studies by speaking with conference participants who visited the Center’s table at the conference facility.
