Human Resource Management

NYIT partners with the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) to offer three HR courses:

•SHRM Learning System® course as preparation for certification as a Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR) or as a Professional in Human Resources (PHR).

•SHRM Global Learning System® course as preparation for certification as a Global Professional in Human Resources (GPHR).

•SHRM ® Essentials of Human Resource Management course for managers and HR specialists.

Register Online     TO REGISTER ONLINE: Select the course by the code.  XMGT-016 is SHRM Learning System, XMGT-018 is Global Learning System and XMGT-027 is Essentials of HR Management. The codes M01 are Manhattan classes and W01 are Old Westbury classes. If you are a member of SHRM  select  either W02S or M01S section. The SHRM Learning System®

 

(XMGT-016)

The SHRM  Learning System®  is designed to provide you with a solid understanding of key areas in human resource management. The course consists of six modules that correspond to the six functional areas, responsibilities, and associated knowledge as defined by the Human Resource Certification Institute (HRCI).

 

The course covers:

 

•Strategic Business management

•Workforce planning and employment 

•Human resources development 

•Total rewards 

•Employee and labor relations 

•Risk management

The program is offered in partnership with the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) as study material for the Professional in Human Resources (PHR) and Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR) certification examinations administered by HRCI. Besides being a powerful tool to assist you in preparing for the PHR or SPHR certification exams, the SHRM Learning System Course also provides professional development for you and your HR Department. The course provides a foundation for managing the HR challenges you face in today's demanding work environment; it supplies a current reference of HR practices, broadens the perspective of functional specialists, and strengthens individual competencies and productivity.

As a student in this course you will receive, six soft-covered books corresponding to the six content areas, access to web-based testing with nearly 1,600 practice questions, as well as a web-based resource center.

 

The course is available in a 36-hour classroom based format or on-line. Classroom-based classes meet once a week on one of NYIT’s convenient Long Island or Manhattan campuses. The on-line version of the class is perfect for those who travel frequently or are unable to get to campus regularly as assignments may be done at the student’s convenience, 24/7, each week. Both formats are taught by experienced and skilled instructors who have successfully guided several hundred individuals through their certification exams.

 

Those who successfully complete the course receive a Certificate of Human Resource Management from SHRM, and 3.5 CEUs of credit.

SHRM Global Learning System®

(XMGT-018)

HR has changed in the past decade, expanding across borders, cultures and economies. HR professionals earning an HR Certification Institute's Global Professional in Human Resources (GPHR™) certification will be prepared to assume responsibilities beyond U. S. regulations - and possess the capability to develop global and cross-border HR policies.

 

The course curriculum covers the  HR Certification Institute Body of Knowledge. You'll learn from printed workbooks, software, online tools and a dynamic classroom experience.

 

•Global content that corresponds with the GPHR body of knowledge, including legislation from the United States, European Union, United Kingdom, Canada, India and China.

•A blended system that includes print- and web-based study tools and online resource center

•More than 750 sample exam questions plus 5 interactive case studies

•A post-test that mimics the testing experience of the HR Certification Institute exam.

The course covers the subject matter necessary for the GPHR test preparation and is organized in five modules:

•Global Talent Acquisition and Mobility

•Global Compensation and Benefits

•Organizational Effectiveness and Talent Development

•Workforce Relations and Risk Management

SHRM® Essentials of Human Resource Management

Certificate Program- XMGT-027

If you’re new to human resources or simply want to strengthen your employee management skills, the SHRM Essentials of Human Resource Management Certificate Program is for you. Knowledge of the essentials can make you a better manager, protect your company from needless litigation, and help advance your career.

 

Offered in cooperation with the Society for Human Resources Management (SHRM), this cost-effective course covers real-life HR issues, including employment law, selecting qualified employees, compensation, the employee performance process and much more.

 

You’ll benefit from the shared experiences of your instructor and peers, and learn new techniques for handling HR challenges.

 

Topics covered in this course include:

 

•Employment law in the workplace

•Essentials of human resource management

•Effective recruitment and selection techniques

•Basics of compensation and benefits

•Orienting and training your employees

•Ensuring quality performance.
